6 Tips to Stay Calm and Stress Free on Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the most special days of your life. But, let’s be real, it can also be super stressful! There are a million things to think about and plan for, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. But, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. The best way to stay calm on your wedding day is to be prepared. Here are 6 tips to make it your best day:

1. First take care of the basics

Handling these ensures your body is taken care of and you’ll have energy for the whole day.

Get enough sleep. As challenging as it may seem, get a good night’s sleep.  If you are well rested, you’ll have the energy and stamina for the day ahead.  If you are having a rehearsal dinner, plan it for early in the evening and limit alcohol…it will affect your sleep quality.

Eat breakfast. You may not feel like eating, but getting something in your stomach will calm the nerves.  Eat snacks throughout the day and include protein.

Hydrate. Drink plenty of water all day long — especially if it’s hot outside or if you’ll be dancing at your reception.  One glass of water every hour is a good rule of thumb for brides who want to keep themselves properly hydrated.  Remember, alcohol dehydrates you, so add a glass of water in between glasses of champagne.

2. Organize in advance

The days leading up to your wedding day can be very stressful as you handle hundreds of last minute details.  Set up a system months in advance for what goes where.  Designate a shelf, drawer, suitcase, bag or something to collect all the little items that need to come with you on the wedding day.  Then you just drop items in there along the way so you don’t have to scramble to remember the day before.  Make an ongoing list of who takes what, so nothing is forgotten…like the rings –yes, it happened  –  and the dress – yes, that happened!

3. Delegate, delegate, delegate!

You can’t do it all nor should you!  If you have a wedding planner, they’ll be able to take care of a lot of the details for you. But there are still plenty of things that need to be handled. Important items to delegate:

Food/snacks – Have someone in charge of bringing snacks and/or a meal for you and your bridal party.  Prep time is usually 3+ hours so have healthy snacks to munch on.  If your timing goes into the lunch hour, have lunch brought in.
Water/champagne – Make sure water is plentiful for everyone.  Champagne or Mimosas are fun if that is your vibe.
Bridal Emergency Kit – Assign someone to bring this.  They can be custom created or purchased online pre-assembled.
-Music – Put someone in charge of wedding day tunes.  Music sets the mood and keeps a happy vibe going.

4. Assign a personal helper

This can be your MOH or anyone you prefer.  They are your right hand and your extra brain for the day. They can oversee the flow of the day, put out fires, handle drama, and help you with anything you need.

5. Bring cozy slippers or comfortable shoes

You’ll be on your feet for most of the day, so during prep time, be as cozy and comfortable as possible.  Bring a second pair of shoes to change into just in case.

6. Take time to enjoy every moment

Your wedding day goes by in a blink, so notice and appreciate everything that made this day happen.  Be present and be a guest at your own party!

These 6 tips will help your day run smoothly and lower your stress level immensely. At the end of the day, you will be married to the love of your life. And that is what really matters.

I’m always here to help you relax and have the best wedding day possible.
